It's Friday!

4/26/13

It's Friday!  Praise the Lamb!

The pool FINALLY opened!  I just ate yummy strawberries and read Elisabeth Elliot.  Successful Friday afternoon if you ask me.

Going to see the Hobbit tonight with my old roommate, Jules.  I haven't seen it yet, so I'll let you all know what I think!

Hope everybody has a wonderful weekend!

Some Things You May Not Have Known

4/25/13

Large

- I get giddy like a kid on Christmas when I get an email saying I have a package.

- One of my most treasured possessions is the spoon ring that my mom gave me for Christmas two years ago.

- Each semester I have worn less and less make-up.  I down to just a touch of tinted moisturizer.  And my hair?  Pretty much let it air dry or it's in a ponytail.  That's what college does to you folks!  But, I don't mind in the least!  I have much better things to invest my time in then beautifying myself.

- My favorite time of day is in the mornings, curled up on my bed with a cup of coffee and my Bible.  It's even better when I'm at home and the sunshine can shine through my window.  So peaceful and refreshing.

- Speaking of that delectable beverage, I've been slowly drinking more and more cups each day... oh, the life of a Senior.

- I laugh at myself way too much and think I am pretty hilarious.  At least my best friend and roommate thankfully agree.

Oh, life as of late.  You have been quire confusing and hectic.  Taking one day at a time...

Spring Shenanigans

4/24/13

So this weekend, I went home for a night with my best friend and got my birthday presents early.  I got Chacos and an Iphone!  Pretty exciting!  Thanks Mom! :)  I've been enjoying both my Chacos and iPhone SO much!http://distilleryimage3.ak.instagram.com/b0b44908aa1011e2aa3022000a9e2931_7.jpg

On Sunday we had house church at my best friend's house and her parents came to town.  She has the sweetest family ever.  We had a potluck lunch afterwards.  SO yummy!  This was mine and my friend Foose's failed attempt at frozen chocolate covered bananas.  They still tasted good, but we were kind of embarrassed to put them out.  Oh, well!  Maybe our Pinterest attempt will succeed next time!

Mom and brother came to town yesterday, cause brother had a baseball game here.  I brought Mom to Joe Bean's for her first time.  She is a big fan.  I love sharing with her some of my favorite things here at school!

Also, brother's baseball game was really fun!  Their team lost, but he pitched really well and two of my best guy friends that met him when he came to visit last time came and watched too.  So nice of them!

Week in Review!

4/18/13

Hey everybody!  Hope you all are having a wonderful week!  I've been enjoying the beautiful weather here in VA so much!  Just wanted to catch you all up on a few things here and there.  And I kind of lied in the title... this is all in the span of a week and a half.  Oops! :)

I went to the opening day of our local baseball team with some of my close friends.  If I haven't mentioned it before, baseball always brightens my day.  Not to mention we went on a donut run right after.  Donuts and baseball: best night ever.

Our bro/sis dorms went to the park this weekend and played kickball.  Sadly my team lost, but it was still a bunch of fun!

I have been enjoying my sweet tea out of my mason jar.  Duck Dynasty anyone?

My RA returned the pencil case that I had left in her room over a week ago and then left me this note.  Sums it up just about perfectly.

I just love my new yarn "basket", although it's technically not a basket at all.  But, oh well!

And... I got a Mac!  Wahoo!  Granted it's a dinosaur Mac, it's a Mac nonetheless.  I've been loving it and I will probably never go back to a PC now.

I went to the Farmer's Market on Saturday morning with my lovely roommate and we had a grand ole' time.  I restrained from buying anything!  Such a miracle.  But she did buy natural peanut butter and it's absolutely delicious!  She gave me permission to eat some whenever I want too!  Best. Roommate. Ever.

So many other fun things have happened, and I seriously need to start taking more pictures.  Hold me accountable on this guys!

I am going home for a night this weekend with my best friend and I will be coming back with two birthday presents that I am very excited about!  I already know what they are, but we can keep them a surprise from all of you :)

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

In the Midst of Waiting

4/8/13

Ladies,

My, oh my.  I have been quite the slacker as of late.  To be honest, I almost considered giving up on blogging, but even though my life has been quite a whirlwind as of late, I felt that the Lord has different plans.  Please accept my apology for slacking so much on here.  I really do want to get back into and I do have SO much to share with all of you!

Where to even begin?

The Lord has been continuing to guide me and teach me new things, literally every day!  It is truly a blessing, but let me tell you, sometimes you have to go through times of waiting to see the Lord work.  That is where I am currently at... a season of waiting.

Side story very quickly...

I go to a large Christian school and we have leadership here that leads the girls on our halls in prayer groups ever week, as well as a few other positions in leadership "above" them (but not really above at all because my prayer leaders are stinkin' amazing).  I am currently serving as an Spiritual Life Director to the Prayer Leaders.  "Above" me are Resident Assistants.  I tried out for Resident Assistant next year  and I made it!  Say, what?!  The super shy, introverted homeschooled girl made RA?  How in the world?  By the grace of God, people, only by the grace of God!  Never in my life did I ever even think of being in a position of leadership like this, but obviously the Lord's has different plans.  I am so humbled and feel so privileged.  Goes to show that He really does equip the called, because I am in no way equipped to handle this on my own.  Praise God for his mercies and the strength he freely gives to us!
Anyway...
We must hire SLDs for next year.  My RA partner for next year (she is AWESOME!) still have not found our SLDs... and we were supposed to have them almost two weeks ago... Anytime now Lord, anytime.

So I'm waiting for SLDs.

Waiting for a man that is a spiritual leader.
Waiting for money for my mission trip.
Waiting for God's direction for the future.  Do I got to grad school, go home and get a job, or move overseas?

My friends, I don't know what it is that you are waiting on the Lord for and I don't have the "fix all" cure for waiting, cause by golly, I'm right there with you!

If you are in a season of waiting, seek the Lord!  Don't wait till you have the answer or the thing you have been waiting for, seek him today, right now!  Open his Word and be refreshed by his love, grace, and mercy.  Remember, he is not a God of confusion or chaos.  He is a God of peace and order.  He is constant.  He is omniscient.

"The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot.  The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance."  Psalm 16:5

The Lord is your portion.  He says you have a beautiful inheritance.  Take heart, sisters.  Wait on the Lord.  Trust in Him.

"Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act."  Psalm 37:5

I pray that today you no matter whether you are in a place of abounding blessings, or you have many trials and burdens trying to bring you down, remember that the Lord is faithful and he is never-changing.  Trust in him, sweet friends.

Spring Break, Asia, and Zion

3/14/13

lovelikeanavalanche:

Life has been CRAZY the past few weeks.  SO sorry I have been such a slacker with the blog!

Here are just a few updates on my life as of late.  I'm on Spring Break and have had a couple very successful thrift finds.  Now I actually have clothes to wear now that it's getting warmer!  I realized last week that my wardrobe consisted mostly of sweaters, flannels, and scarves.  Definitely not ideal for the warm weather we are slowly getting.

God is challenging me and shaping me in so many ways right now!  I'm raising money for a mission trip to Central Asia which is in just a couple of months, and the Lord has really been teaching me to trust him for that.  I have so much to share with you all, but I don't want to overload you in one post.

Random, but if you haven't checked out Hillsong United's new CD, Zion, you need to go check it out right now.  Seriously, it is great.

Hope you are all having a great week!

Liebster Award!

2/26/13

Heather at Heathering Heights nominated me for a Libester Award! How sweet is that?!

I followed after my sweet nominees lead, and didn't quite follow all of the rules, but oh well!

Here are the 11 questions that Heather asked me:

1. Where were you born?
RVA! I love my hometown.

2. Why do you blog?
I blog because I love to write, it's a way to document my life (instead of a scrapbook because I am NOT at all artistic), to encourage others with Truth and the Word of God, and to connect with other wonderful ladies from around the World.

3. Who inspires you?
As far as bloggers go, Chelsea at lost.in.travels does a lot.  She actually has my future "dream life."  She is an English teacher in Korea, which is what I want to do, is living her life for the Lord, and her and her husband are so precious and always have so much fun!

4. Who is your Hollywood crush?
Definitely Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

5. What was the last book you read (and liked)?
Catching Fire.  I am WAY behind in pop culture...

6. When was the last time you laughed really hard and why?
Friday night.  I was just hanging out, enjoying some sweet tea and chocolate chip cookies (typical) with my brother my friend Kang.  Oh man, I couldn't stop laughing.  Such awkward, open conversations.  Those boys...

7. What's your dream job?
TESL teacher, preferably somewhere in Southeast Asia, but I'm open to wherever the Lord will lead me.  I would love to be in full-time ministry, really anywhere overseas.  Typical and cheesy, but I cannot wait to be a housewife and mom.

8. What's the most embarrassing thing you did in high school?
Honestly, I haven't done that many embarrassing things.  I'm generally very clumsy and kind of awkward, but I've learned to be okay with it.  I have definitely had some VERY embarrassing things happen to me while at college though, but now I just laugh at how ridiculous I am.

9. What's something people don't know about you?
Wow, this one's hard.  Hmm... I'm a great starter, but not a good finisher.  Here's hoping I finish this blog post...

10. If you could go anywhere in the World, where would it be?
Oh boy.  Umm, is everywhere an option?

11. What's something you never leave the house without?
LIP BALM!

 The Liebster Blog Award rules:
  1. Each person tagged must share eleven things about themselves.
  2. They must answer the eleven questions the tagger has made for them.
  3. They must then choose eleven fellow blogs to nominate.  The nominees must have under 200 GFC (Google Friend Connect) followers and be told in a comment on their blog.
  4. Lastly they must then think of eleven questions to ask the bloggers they have decided to nominate.
Here are my nominees:

Courtney at Dress up & Twirl

Here are my questions for you ladies:
1. Who is one person you really miss right now?
2. What is the weirdest meat you have ever eaten?
3. Do you have any nervous habits?
4. What can always make your day?
5. What is your favorite sport to watch?
6. What is your favorite mode of transportation?
7. What is your favorite day of the week and why?
8. What do you like on your burger?
9. What is your favorite grocery store?
10. What is your favorite season and why?
11. Nerds or Jocks?

Feel free to alter the rules as I did...
I would love if you left a link to your answers in the comments! :)
