Liebster Award!

2/26/13

Heather at Heathering Heights nominated me for a Libester Award! How sweet is that?!

I followed after my sweet nominees lead, and didn't quite follow all of the rules, but oh well!

Here are the 11 questions that Heather asked me:

1. Where were you born?
RVA! I love my hometown.

2. Why do you blog?
I blog because I love to write, it's a way to document my life (instead of a scrapbook because I am NOT at all artistic), to encourage others with Truth and the Word of God, and to connect with other wonderful ladies from around the World.

3. Who inspires you?
As far as bloggers go, Chelsea at lost.in.travels does a lot.  She actually has my future "dream life."  She is an English teacher in Korea, which is what I want to do, is living her life for the Lord, and her and her husband are so precious and always have so much fun!

4. Who is your Hollywood crush?
Definitely Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

5. What was the last book you read (and liked)?
Catching Fire.  I am WAY behind in pop culture...

6. When was the last time you laughed really hard and why?
Friday night.  I was just hanging out, enjoying some sweet tea and chocolate chip cookies (typical) with my brother my friend Kang.  Oh man, I couldn't stop laughing.  Such awkward, open conversations.  Those boys...

7. What's your dream job?
TESL teacher, preferably somewhere in Southeast Asia, but I'm open to wherever the Lord will lead me.  I would love to be in full-time ministry, really anywhere overseas.  Typical and cheesy, but I cannot wait to be a housewife and mom.

8. What's the most embarrassing thing you did in high school?
Honestly, I haven't done that many embarrassing things.  I'm generally very clumsy and kind of awkward, but I've learned to be okay with it.  I have definitely had some VERY embarrassing things happen to me while at college though, but now I just laugh at how ridiculous I am.

9. What's something people don't know about you?
Wow, this one's hard.  Hmm... I'm a great starter, but not a good finisher.  Here's hoping I finish this blog post...

10. If you could go anywhere in the World, where would it be?
Oh boy.  Umm, is everywhere an option?

11. What's something you never leave the house without?
LIP BALM!

 The Liebster Blog Award rules:
  1. Each person tagged must share eleven things about themselves.
  2. They must answer the eleven questions the tagger has made for them.
  3. They must then choose eleven fellow blogs to nominate.  The nominees must have under 200 GFC (Google Friend Connect) followers and be told in a comment on their blog.
  4. Lastly they must then think of eleven questions to ask the bloggers they have decided to nominate.
Here are my nominees:

Courtney at Dress up & Twirl

Here are my questions for you ladies:
1. Who is one person you really miss right now?
2. What is the weirdest meat you have ever eaten?
3. Do you have any nervous habits?

5. What is your favorite sport to watch?
6. What is your favorite mode of transportation?
7. What is your favorite day of the week and why?

Romans 12:12

2/21/13

Romans 12:12.

I just want to encourage all you lovelies today with some Scripture that I pray daily.  It's Romans 12:12 if you were wondering :)
The Lord does hear our prayers.  We must trust that He hears us and knows our hearts even better then we do.  No matter what the outcome, He will work all things for our good.
Now, our good is not what we want, but being conformed into the image of Christ.
Take heart today ladies.  The Lord is ALWAYS faithful, even when we are faithless.
Trust and rely on Him today.

Costa Rica

2/20/13

I've been really missing Costa Rica lately.  I've been there twice, in 2008 and again in 2011.  For those of you who don't know, I have a passion for missions and foreign cultures.  I simply cannot wait till I get to live in another country and am so excited to see where in the world the Lord will lead me.

I hope you enjoy this reminiscent post.  I hope to have more posts like this in the future as I travel more.  The beauty of Costa Rica, its land and people, are amazing!  I just loved it!

Here's a glimpse of some of the mountains.

Doesn't quite do it justice.

While we were there we mostly interacted with children.  We played with them and taught them Bible studies.  They were precious and I loved how they always giggled at our attempts at speaking Spanish.  We toted around "goodie bags" full of fun school supplies, toys, and silly bands.  Not only were these kids super sweet, but they kicked our butts at soccer!

Costa Ricans are probably the nicest, hospitable, humble, and most patient people I have ever met.  They are so happy, grateful, and content with what that have, which is barely anything.  So challenging to us Americans who are extremely spoiled and rich compared to them.

This is the backyard of an elderly lady's house that we helped fix up.  She often does her laundry and dishes in this river.

This is my little friend William (or Guillermo).  He was five years old at the time and was SO energetic and full of life.  He just wanted me to carry him on my back all day long.  Boy, my arms were hurting the next day, but it was so worth it.  He melted my heart.

Okay, the food on Costa Rica?  DELICIOUS!  You have rice and beans for pretty much every meal, but their rice and beans are much different then ours.  They are SO much better!  AND you have fresh fruit juice or a smoothie with each meal!  Literally the week of meals I've ever had.

Lastly, their beaches are BEAUTIFUL too!  The sand is actually black there.  Not at all what I was expecting.  The waves are very big in some parts of it, and the area that we were staying at has big surfing competitions there a lot.  We actually got to watch one the second time I went!  Too cool!  And yes, I did try surfing once while I was there.  I failed miserably.  Zero coordination for this girl.

That's all for now.  Just wanted to share what has been on my heart lately.

I'm going to try to write a post about the future and where I think the Lord is leading me overseas.  I'm also heading to South Asia this summer with my church here at school and I am STOKED!  Can't wait to see what the Lord will do on this upcoming trip!

Have a lovely day everyone! :)

Firmoo Review!

2/19/13

I adore my new glasses.

A few weeks ago I got an email from Firmoo asking me if I wanted to review their product.  I was ecstatic when I got this email because I had seen several blog reviews, and only heard good things about Firmoo, so I of course replied back saying that I would gladly review their product.

Not only had I been wanting to try Firmoo for quite some time, but I had also been searching for the perfect pair of glasses.  These were exactly what I had been searching for!

I emailed the company representative back, and he quickly replied telling me to pick out a pair.  I don't have glasses or contacts, and I don't wear sunglasses much, so I decided to go with these adorable classes.  They do offer prescription though, which is awesome!

After I had picked out the glasses I wanted I emailed him back, and they shipped my glasses just a couple of days later!  Wonderful service!

Just a couple days later I got an email that my package had arrived and I rushed to the post office on campus to pick it up!

They came in a case with a cloth to clean the glasses with as well.

Overall, I LOVE these glasses.  They are super comfortable and cute!

Now for the best part!  Firmoo wants to share the love with all of you!  They offer a program that provides free glasses to new customers!  The only thing you have to pay for is shipping.

Click this link to get your free pair today!

PS: I totally looked like Waldo the day I got them.
